Responding to Publisher's Warehousing & Book Fulfillment Needs Since 1963
Ware-Pak was founded by Robert Plechaty in 1963 to provide warehousing and book fulfillment services to the publishing industry. While working at Cuneo Press in Melrose Park, Robert Plechaty was approached by JG Ferguson and Meredith Corp to provide fulfillment services. In order to provide these services, Cuneo Press gave Robert a corner of their warehouse to use and that is how Ware-Pak began.
In order to respond to publishers in need of book binding services, Ware-Pak acquired a binding company in the mid 80’s. After learning the book fulfillment business from his father by working summers, Robert’s son Mark Plechaty joined the business and worked his way through all departments, taking responsibility for a newly acquired book binding operation in 1985. This part of Ware-Pak’s operations was phased out in the late 90’s as the demand for third party fulfillment services increased and the company decided to focus on meeting the increasingly complex needs of publishers.
When Keith Shay joined the company as president in 1998, he moved quickly to oversee a transition from Ware-Pak’s homegrown computer system to fully integrated, real-time, warehouse management technology designed to meet the diverse needs of the publishing industry. This conversion, the adoption of standardized procedures and other specialized systems added during the past decade enable Ware-Pak to achieve the highest degree of control over its operations while giving publishers 24/7 access to online, real-time inventory control information.
Today, with its 50th anniversary on the horizon, Ware-Pak has the warehouse capacity, technology and experience leading publishers demand along with a team of seasoned professionals who remain dedicated to its founder’s original vision… providing publishers with the industry’s finest, most efficient third party order fulfillment services.
